Rest In Peace, Willie Vega

My brother, Willie Vega committed suicide on February 27th, 2012 at around 8:30pm.

Nobody can know what could have gone through his mind to end his life as he did, but no matter what, he will be missed.

Willie was a tremendously talented guitar player. He was a smart and funny guy who had a huge heart, hidden underneath all that black garb. He was kind and protective of his family and friends. I am going to really miss him.

Willie leaves behind a family that loved him, and many, many loving friends. If you knew Willie and want to leave a personal tribute, you can do so on his Facebook page here:

Willie: I wish that your life could have given you the purpose you needed to shine and be happy. We will never know what you could have accomplished.

I will miss you, as will your brothers, mom, grandma and especially Violet. You made a huge impact on Violet’s life and she will remember you all the way till she’s an old lady.

Love,

Andy

  2. I want to add that Willie had a father who loved him. I am his father. I feel an intense pain every day since I learned of my son’s death. I wish that he is in a better place.

  9. I just learned about Willie today. It’s been many years since I spoke to him, but I have fond memories of playing music with him back in the Miami days. Willie played guitar and I played drums in his cousin Peter’s band. We hung out together in the Miami scene and had many laughs together. What an incredible talent he was. This is a sad day for me. Willie was a one of a kind.

  10. I just came across some of Willie’s videos, and was bookmarking favorites to share with my 14 yr old son – and read about his story. My biggest condolences to all of you for your loss, and gratitude for his generous gift of music that continues on in this world.
